EVENTS | By Alex Pardy --- Easy to assume that a mini rock show would get by the average eye, but this one you couldn’t miss. On Saturday, January 23, in CD Heaven (you know, that little store behind Shoppers Drug Mart, the one you'd need to be paying attention to where you were going in order to see it), a mini Alternative Rock Show was put on for a big crowd. The opening act was the band Eyeball Kid, whose members include Alan Godin and Jordan Beuckx, DHS graduates, Shelby Reid, current DHS student, and Ewan Deveaux who is a student in the HRSB. The New Millennials were next, with members Riley Murphy, Colin Fancy, and Bryce Bacon. Both bands played a variety of original and cover music. Closing out the night was a performance by the band born from DHS. ENZO members Marcus Tracey (DHS grad) and current students Evan Martinez and Ross Wilson were joined by Nash Stewart who filled in for regular bassist Jacob McCrory who couldn't make the gig. ENZO played original and cover songs that grade 11 and 12 students at DHS would remember from last year, Say it Ain’t So, Movie 4 2, and Need You Tonight. All in all the night was amazing. Those who crowded into CD Heaven certainly enjoyed the Alternative Rock Show. Each band did a great job and you could tell the work they put into preparing for the night. Collaboration was evident too. When a string on Ross’s guitar broke, Riley let Ross use his so ENZO could finish off their set. Comments are closed.
