Journalism 12
Journalism 12 is designed to provide students with a fundamental journalism background — and regular opportunities to publish in The Dart.
Course description Students learn about the history of journalism in Canada and other countries and examine the role of the media in society. Students consider practical and ethical issues in print and online journalism as they learn responsible investigative reporting skills. Students develop journalistic writing techniques through the close study of published articles and regular opportunities to pitch ideas, conduct research and interviews, and collaborate with their peers in writing and editing a variety of articles. Students design their own webpages or publications. The school’s online newspaper provides further opportunities for blogging, video- and photojournalism, podcasting, and webpage design. |
